An evening With Nature Filmmakers

Two of Ireland’s foremost Nature Filmmakers’ will tell their individual stories of living and working as an environmental filmmaker in Ireland. Ken O’Sullivan and Vinny Hyland will share personal insights into the aspects of their work that they are most passionate about, presenting examples of their work.

 

Ken O’Sullivan

Ken O’Sullivan worked as freelance underwater cameramen for several years before establishing Sea Fever Productions in 2006 with Katrina Costello to produce wildlife & creative documentaries.

Currently producing and shooting a four part Ocean Wildlife series for RTÉ.

Ken completed a landmark six part Irish Ocean Wildlife series for  TG4 in 2011, ‘Farraigí na hÉireann’ the first of its kind produced in Ireland.

Prior to this Ken shot, produced and directed ‘Sea Fever’, a feature length Irish surf documentary in 2009, broadcast in Ireland and shown at film festivals worldwide, winning the ‘Best Cinematography’ award at the Moscow Sports Film Festival in 2009.

Vincent Hyland

Since 1990, Vincent Hyland has been recording the areas coastal plant and animal biodiversity above and below water. He possesses the single biggest photographic, audio and video archive available to the area. This ‘document’ is a valuable record of the area’s changing biodiversity. Over the past 8 years he has provided outdoor education to adults, parents and children at Derrynane in all aspects of the areas’ unique habitats and dependent wildlife.
